Here are some pics of our wonderful carpeted basement area. (If you missed the pics of us purchasing the carpet in the last post, go check it out — I just snuck them in!)
Above: my sewing desk, the game dresser, entertainment center, and couch with fabric/clothes for future sewing projects.
Above: longview of basement. Area with couches, Lily's swing (thanks, Grosse Opa!), pack'n'play, laundry area, and my sewing chair.
Above: close-up of the laundry area, with nice big windows to the backyard (see Lily's slide and playhouse out there?). The ironing board is out because I've learned that when a pattern says "press" it really means "iron". This is probably the first time I've "pressed" anything since we've moved in. Yeah, not such big fan.
Above: close-up of Ryan's unfinished work area ("unfinished" meaning "uncarpeted" — that's basically the only difference) and our toddler-containment strategy...works pretty well so far and lets us all enjoy the basement together.
And finally...what basement would be complete without Star Wars pictures on the walls?
And speaking of Star Wars, thanks to Anthony and Emily for coming over last night and getting excited to play Star Wars Trivial Pursuit with us (and for ordering hot wings and helping eat Halloween candy and mini corn dogs...mmm). We enjoyed reminiscing about the "old" house with you.

Every year around this time, we celebrate the anniversary of moving into our house. It's hard to believe October 31st marked our FIFTH Halloween in this house — albeit, a much different house than five years ago:
Here's how our house looks now:
You can also see how it's looked in between.
This year's house-iversary also marks one year since our driveway was paved (seriously? was that a year ago already?), and it's holding up great.
Still no fence or covered gate at the end of it, but there's always next year. ;)

Ryan likes to look through this site once and a while, and today remarked that he doesn't remember seeing any recent pictures of the backyard. So Ryan, this is for you!
View from the patio down into the yard (there is a slope down at the far end of the bricks).
View from the edge of the patio looking across the backyard (the slope is in the foreground).
Three photos taken from the back of the yard looking at the rear of the house, from l to r:
Some "clutter" on the patio:
And last but not least, Ryan's latest project...steps down into the backyard off the side of the patio (he's going back and forth about how he really wants to complete it):
